Providing a clean and sanitized has always been a primary goal of family entertainment center owners. Without a doubt, a germ-free environment makes for a better experience all around. Now that we're amid a global pandemic, health is not only your responsibility as an individual but also as a business. One outbreak within your establishment will inevitably lead to a drastic decrease in traffic and revenue. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation will ensure the reputation of your business remains intact through these turbulent times.

Around the world, the response to COVID-19 has varied significantly. Some local or national governments require a full-body disinfection station upon entry to an FEC, while others only require masks. What should you follow? Guidelines set forth by the CDC and WHO are a good starting point for your particular venue. Their recommendations help business owners worldwide offer products and services safely to guests.

Explore a few key points from these trusted organizations to begin the reopening process smoothly. Remember, regulations and requirements to reopen and run your FEC will vary; be sure to check what they are in your specific region. What are some of the general guidelines issued by the CDC and WHO?

Create and implement a cleaning plan that can be executed at the opening periods and carried out throughout the day. The plan may include a schedule for disinfection of high traffic surface areas or the requirement to sanitize equipment after each use. Be sure to continuously assess and modify the project as the situation evolves. In addition, the policy should ensure the safety of your employees by providing strict guidelines to adhere to.

Soap and water can lower the risk of spreading Covid-19 and should be used before disinfecting a dirty surface. Use a disinfectant included on the EPA-approved list of disinfectants against COVID-19. Refer to the EPA website to check if a product qualifies. If a specified product is unavailable, then use ⅓ cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water; use 24 hours after mixing. A 70% alcohol solution is also acceptable.

The CDC recommends we maintain safe behavioral practices in all establishments. These include frequently washing hands or using disinfectant gel, avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth, wearing masks, and social distancing. Avoiding large gatherings of people is a great way to reduce the risk of any disease. In addition, we must encourage guests constantly to wash or sanitize their hands.
